ICEX GROUP - What is our STARR service?

ICEX GROUP fits into the category of an ITAD, which stands for an IT Asset Disposal/Disposition company. As this is the industry standard term we must adopt it to an extent but we (obviously) don’t like the implication of the word disposal (nor disposition for that matter) due to the implication of simply disposing. Arguably that is the opposite of our main objective.

STARR stands for Secure Technology Asset Revival and Relocation, and we believe this more accurately describes what WEEE (pun intended?) want to achieve. Disposal implies that landfill dumping is an option - it isn’t - not even as a last resort. Recycling is the last resort for us.

First and foremost we handle your data securely. This means that sometimes we are forced to recycle, rather than our preference which is to revive IT Assets for reuse or relocation.

It's crucial we can remove IT Assets from Company-Managed Enrolment Programs and remove Cloud and BIOS locks. This minimises waste because, without enrolment removal and unlock keys, IT Assets can only be recycled, not reused. So, by providing us with the unlock keys, it allows us to get the technology back out into the market, improving your ESG.

If you want to hear more about the Relocation side of our service - when your technology is still usable by your company, but you need a team who can take on the data liability when relocating it - then please read the full article below:
