A world where no technology assets ever get wasted and everyone has access to affordable technology. A world where technology assets are reused as much as possible, and when new assets are needed, they’re always sustainable. Only when they’ve reached the end of their life, and as a last resort, do they get recycled. And absolutely nothing goes to landfill.

Case Study: Aberdeen Standard Investments
Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) requirements
ICEX collaborated with Pickfords to provide Aberdeen Standard Investments with an IT Asset Revival service to help them achieve their sustainability goals.
Aberdeen Standard Investments needed secure removal of 1,700 IT Assets in their London, Leeds, and Newcastle offices. Data security was imperative.
Responsible Reuse
We provided a thorough assessment of all items that could be reused by Aberdeen Standard Investments, saving costs on the acquisition of new equipment.
Data Security
As a Financial Services company, the data stored on the computers was highly sensitive and confidential, so data security was essential. We used our BLANCCO security system to erase the information which then allowed the equipment to be reused safely. ICEX GROUP holds a gold partnership status with BLANCCO. We use the BLANCCO software onsite or on a much larger scale at our own facility.
Project Outcomes
• Logistical scale: total number of assets collected by ICEX GROUP from Aberdeen Standard Investments: 1,700
• Cost saving: around 300 computers were securely data erased and returned by us for Aberdeen Standard Investments to reuse – saving the cost of acquiring new equipment, and helping the planet
• Carbon reduction: Of the IT Assets that were not reused by ASI, 80% were reused by selling back into the market – reducing the impact on the planet by reducing the carbon footprint required to manufacture new equipment
• Nothing to landfill: The rest of the equipment was recycled with 0% going to landfill, helping Aberdeen Standard Investments to achieve its sustainability targets
