We communicated our progress to the UN

First of all, it’s worth saying that completing the corporate submission to the UN Global Compact initially feels daunting. Especially for someone who prefers the big picture, rather than the details. But we found that once you get started, it's actually an OK process.

The evidence you have to gather covers these areas:

  • Governance

  • Human Rights

  • Labour

  • Environment

  • Anti-Corruption

It takes a bit of focused effort - with input from senior stakeholders, including the CEO. But it's a satisfying process because it gets you to think about how to quantify your progress on key metrics around the triple bottom line of People, Planet, Profit.

And to give an example metric, we now know that we helped reduce 8,469 tonnes of potential CO2 emissions in 2023. Which has really given everyone in our office a buzz.

At ICEX GROUP, we focus on making IT Assets more sustainable by utilising methods to make their lifecycle much more circular. We do this by reviving IT assets for reuse and/or relocation and, as a last resort, recycling. We avoid landfilling altogether and thus avoid polluting.

If you’re thinking of joining the UN Global Compact and would like to chat with us about our experiences, by all means drop us a DM or contact us - details in the comments.
