ICEX

December Newsletter

Welcome to the third ICEX newsletter. We aim to keep you up to date with what’s going on in the ITAD industry as well as what’s going on within ICEX. If there’s anything you’d like to see in the newsletter or something you want advice with then please contact us.

What’s in the news?
In September we mentioned the fines imposed on Facebook for the Cambridge Analytica fiasco. Since then Facebook have appealed the case brought against them by the Information Commissioners Office. Their reason being the lack of evidence brought to the table. A fine of £500,000 is not likely to damage Facebook financially going forward, however their problem seems to be with the damage it does to their reputation, if they were to accept the fine would they be perceived as guilty?

What’s new with ICEX?
In the month of November ICEX completed the full sweep of ISO Certifications. Following on from passing our ISO 27001 audit in October, we passed 14001 (Environmental) and 9001 (Quality Management) last month. This proves our commitment to providing the best possible service for our clients, ensuring all our policies and procedures are tight and well managed.

Security Tip Of The Month
Cyber war is upon us. Every newsletter, ICEX will share some security tips to help you keep your sensitive information secure. We would love to hear from you, what security issues are concerning you?

We all have too many passwords to manage – and it’s easy to take short-cuts, like reusing the same password.

Here are some general password tips to keep in mind:

  • Use long passwords – 20 characters or more is recommended.
  • Use a strong mix of characters, and never use the same password for multiple sites.
  • Don’t share your passwords and don’t write them down (especially not on a post-it note attached to your monitor).
  • Update your passwords periodically, at least once every 6 months (90 days is better).
